Boing Boing: The Quiz
One of the most intriguing aspects of Boing Boing is that each of its four contributors has a subtle but recognizable predilection for certain types of articles. Is it possible to guess who is responsible for each post simply from its content? Armed with a mild hangover and my burgeoning Greasemonkey skillz, I decided to find out.
The result is a fun and friendly Greasemonkey script: Boing Boing: The Quiz.
The one caveat is that Greasemonkey kicks in after the page is loaded, so you might see the author of the page’s first post before the script has time to modify the content. This is a subject of heated discussion on the Greasemonkey mailing list, although I believe that a viable solution has yet to be found. In the meantime, close your eyes while the page loads or, better yet, take the first one as a freebie. You’ll need it.

There’s nothing /subtle/ about most of it. If it mentions Cory, the DMCA, copyright, copyLEFT, copyFIGHT, or any other wanky combination, it’s Cory. If the word Zen is used with no point or understanding of the meaning of the word, it’s Xeni. And that covers most of the posts right away.

My first greasemonkey script is going to be to put EM (or frickin BLINK) tags around any post that uses the word SHOULD! Usually these are posts from Cory, and to me he comes off as WHINING when he does.
Note here, I’m not saying “someone should write a greasemonkey script that …” I’m saying my first will be, because it bugs the living snot out of me. (That and Cory posting links to things that were old 2 years ago…maybe I should hack the de-xeni script to de-Cory…)

Grease the web with Greasemonkey
Greasemonkey is a trendy Firefox tool which allows to add (or should I say - inject) your own custom Javascript to all or only certain websites, changing their functionality, adding new features, etc. Of course you can share your behaviour-changing…
