I hate to do this, but I cann't resist to share some excitement:

Last week I came across a local startup here at Boston: www.Pubet.com. They have similar idea but use different technology, essentially turn PC to a website. I shared 200+ party pics with friends instantly, it was great.

There are a few uniqueness comparing with Allpeers(I haven't got invited yet so cannot be sure):

1. Public/private sharing: they support public sharing also, this is big for amatenur musicians like me to get record out.
2. Browser neutral: perhaps biggest advantage for them is it works on all browsers. This gives them a great entry point for mass. Let's face it, although FF gains popularity quickly, IE still the king.

I have been waiting for this for a long time, finally comes an alternative, it's long overdue.

Cedric/Matt: I think you guys have serious contender now. Let users be judges.

Not to be too critical, but Brian really hit the nail on the head. It is great that the Allpeers team has set up this blog to give us an insight into the dev process and various random business and technology related ideas, but having been signed up for the beta for almost three months now I'm beginning to lose faith that "the best thing to happen to firefox since firefox" is going to happen at all. I completely understand the slow roll-out process, but assuming that you want to maintain a competitive advantage a larger private beta or even (ideally) a public beta is in order. On the other hand, maybe the team is holding out on dropping Allpeers in order to release a feature-complete polished extension that will blow everyone (myself included) away. Keep up the frequent posts and hope all is well in Oxford.

Umm, the Lamborghini thing was a joke (and, I thought, an obvious one). In reality I own a 1996 Skoda Felicia, if that makes you feel any better about our prospects as a business. :-)
