The Free Software Foundation has some intelligent suggestions for steps that Apple could take to back up their claimed anti-DRM stance. I went ahead and signed their electronic petition, which I’m sure has Jobs quaking in his pointy boots.

  1. I’m surprised at no comments here yet. I really want the elimination of DRM, but I don’t think the attack on Apple / iTunes helps our case all.

While I applaud the challenge to Steve Jobs, I couldn’t sign it because I don’t see any of the challenges as realistic and I therefore see the petition as being brushed off. I wish the petition had been thought through and written more carefully with an acknowledgement and realistic assessment of the current position.

Here’s hoping that we do see DRM start toppling soon, though!

  2. Actually I thought the challenges were eminently realistic, although perhaps they credit Jobs with too much influence over Disney.
